Umantec has participated in the following projects:
- Development of a camera surveillance system. This
system can be connected to a network of Mobotix camera's.
The alarms are registered, evaluated, and redistributed. For

A simple version is available here (for free). - Development of a user-centred maritime navigation-instrument for marginal situations and high traffic densities. This instrument is part of a development described in "User centred interfaces in co-operative distributed systems" (ACM) and "Automated conflict avoidance in confined water" (IFSMA).
- Development of a vessel traffic simulator. This simulator is part of the navigation instrument described above. Characteristic of this simulator is that it applies behavioural models for the ships. All ships find their own way applying the navigation rules and collision avoidance strategies. In a simulation various effects of traffic managements can be studied.
- Development of an innovative maritime navigation tool, including the product life-cycle. ( Dutch Maritime Pilot Association, IPPA).
- Analysis of the work of a maritime pilot
(Rotterdam). This work is partly described in the PhD-thesis
"The maritime pilot at work" (PDF-format 2MB,
rebuilt from the original for the Delft University of
Technology, Netherlands).
